Tuscany, it is safe to say, is Italy’s most beautiful region. In fact, it probably is not too much of a hyperbole to suggest that Tuscany is one of the most beautiful regions in the whole of Europe. It does not matter how many times you visit this place, each time you will be blown away by its sheer beauty.
Four Reasons Everyone Should Visit Tuscany
In our opinion, everyone should visit Tuscany at least one time. If you are still unsure, read the following reasons why everyone should visit this remarkable region of Italy and we are certain that we will have changed your mind.
It Has an Artistic Legacy Like No Other
Tuscany is the home of the Renaissance. Some of the world’s most famous people all hailed from this part of the world. For example, you have the painters Botticelli and Giotto, the sculptors Michelangelo and Brunelleschi, the writer Dante, the musician Puccini, the physicist Gaileo Galilei, and, last but no means least, the polymath Leonardo Da Vinci.
Even if you are not a huge fan of art, you will still find yourself being amazed by their work which is scattered throughout the region. For the huge art fans, there are more museums, art galleries, and churches than you can shake a stick at.
The Food is Divine
Italy has a reputation for having good food and rightfully so. When you are in Tuscany you will be able to try some of the best food that has ever passed your lips. For example, you really should try bistecca all fiorentina, pappa al Pomodoro, ribollita, pici pasta, trippa, or lampredotto. Once you return home you will be craving to return so that you can eat their food again.
The Wine is Just as Good
We cannot talk about Tuscany’s food without mentioning their wine. It is fair to say that this region produces some of the best tasting wines in the world. Excellent wines can be made here thanks to the climate. When you are paying a visit to Tuscany, you really should take the time to go on a wine tour. You will get to see some beautiful scenery and sample some amazing wines – what’s not to like about that?
The Landscape is to Die For
There are a variety of different landscapes in Tuscany and each one has its own extreme beauty to admire. For example, there is the Chianti wine region with its green rolling hills, or there is the Apennine area where you can try out your skiing skills on some steep mountainous slopes. Furthermore, there is beautiful coastal area of Bolgheri and the Etruscan Coast. Tuscany is simply Heaven on earth for those who love nature.
Florence is the Place to Stay
The capital city of Tuscany is Florence and it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. There is so much to do and see here that you would be foolish to go to Tuscany and not pay a visit to Florence. In our opinion, if you go to Tuscany and do not go to Florence, your trip will have been incomplete.
In fact, Florence is probably the best place to stay in Tuscany as it is so well connected to the other places in Tuscany that you really must visit. You have probably heard that “all roads lead to Rome”, but when you are in Tuscany it should be modified to “all roads lead to Florence”. From here you can easily get to other amazing Tuscan destinations such as Pisa, Siena, Cortona, Montepulciano, and Livorno.
There are more hotels in Florence than you would care to imagine, meaning that you will definitely be able to find one that suits you down to the ground.
If you like to stay in luxury when you are abroad, there are some great five-star hotels such as the Villa Tolomei Hotel and Resort, the NH Collection Firenze Porta Rossa, and the Rocco Forte Hotel Savoy. However, if you want to save some money, the three-star hotels are better than most three-star hotels that you will find elsewhere in the world.
We Recommend You Stay in a Villa
If you stay in a hotel in Florence you will have no complaints come the end of the trip, that is for sure, but we highly recommend that you hire a villa if you are going as a family or a large group.
If you are going somewhere with a friend or a partner, a hotel room is fine because you will get to stay together, but if you go as a larger group you will be split up throughout the hotel, unless you are lucky enough to be able to get two rooms that are next to each other.
The purpose of a holiday is to spend as much time together as possible, no? Something that is difficult to do when we are back home and leading our busy lives again. The best way to spend as much time together when on holiday is to hire a villa.
Florence has some amazing villas that you can choose from and you will not even need to break the bank to hire them out. If you split the cost between you, you will probably end up spending not much more than you would were you to stay in a hotel for a week. Another benefit of hiring a villa is that you will not get annoyed by any noises that other guests are making (which can happen at a hotel) and there will be nobody getting annoyed by any noises that you are making.
